Junkie

Okay, at this moment I am stalking my prey. on Ebay. I know it's sad, but there is only 8 more minutes to go, and I HAVE to have it. And, I will wrestle anyone to the cyberground who tries to sneak outbid me.

Sad.

But much cheaper than purchasing it at G street....MUCH.

Ruminations

I think I like building sets, because well, let's face it. Nothing has to be done to perfection. Stuff only has to look good enough to look good from 20-50 feet away. No audience member will ever see the stain on the chair, or the fact that we didn't paint in between the lines, exactly. No one notices that stuff. you just have to have a rough approximation of whatever you are making, to get your point across.

I like that sort of bold paintbrush approach to life. Its really too bad that most things get put under the microscope under huge scrutiny in daily life. I'm not great at daily life. I like making things crooked on purpose, because I am not good at straight lines. I like brightly mismatched colors because it's easier than finding everything that matches exactly. I only like painting the furniture, not FINISHING it...with the final clear coats of protective finish. I can't be bothered with stuff like that. What is my deal?

Course, I could just be really lazy.....

Back to life Back to reality

i actually went to work today for the first time. I don't technically have to be there until next week, however, I am trying to get a jump on things. However, I feel like cancelling thursday and friday. I think I might. I am just not ready for that sort of slop.

We were thinking of having a party in a couple of weeks for my birthday and for (another) housewarming, but just now, typing up the e-vite, I just felt lame. Why do we need to throw another party? Most of the folks we are inviting just came to our wedding a bit over a month ago. I just don't know if it's necessary. And certainly, there would be NO GIFTING. none. we can't even finish the thank you's from the last round!

However, we did just receive all kinds of neat toys to make entertaining a breeze....and I want to play with them!

If we do have a party, I was thinking of making it a pirate themed party. no mention on the evite of the bday or the warm house. What thinks you, internet? any other bright ideas of a themed party, or do you even think we should have one?

painting the town red

okay, well, it isn't so much the town, but the room. the smallest room in our new place is taking the most paint. Take our advice, don't paint ANYTHING red, unless you hire expert house painters to do it for you. And in that case, paint whatever you want. Including the town.

We are on coat five, and it makes the room look almost normal. Almost. le SIGH.

I think painting should be an olympic sport. i am well trained, with incredible finger and forearm muscles. so much so, that my rings are very tight....c'mon...i will take you on....

Dedication

In honor of my dear friend Kristi having her baby on Tuesday, I am sharing one of my favorite stories about her.

We were living as roomates in lovely Garland, TX.
She decided she had had it with the weeds in our yard and the ones growing in the cracks on the sidewalk and driveway. So, she purchased a product called "Weed-B-Gone". She dilligently used the product as directed, and, if I know Kristi, sprayed the bejesus out of the weeds in her yard. She waited a day or so, and NOTHING happened. She was furious. She grabbed the spray bottle from the shelf in the garage and shook it and angrily said "Weed-B-Gone?! More like "Weed-B-Stayin-Around!" and just like that she threw the bottle into the trash. She was so mad. And all I could do was laugh, because, really....she was SOOOOO mad about...well, weed killer.

This story still makes me laugh to this day everytime I see a a commercial on TV about some spray-on weed killer. And now, after meeting Kristi, it makes my husband laugh, too.

Here's to ya, K, and that lovely new baby boy! Cheers!

Good Gourd.

Well, I guess I should update my template, since everyone else has, and it should reflect my newly married status! But, since I don't know how to do that, I won't...or I will beg the husband to do so....

So...yeah. I am freakin married. WOOOOOOO! It's weird, because you know that it's somehow more permanent than you were before, but then, it's kinda the same. Strange.

I have so much to say about the wedding. So much. I can't really do it here. However, I should really start by saying...it was so awesome...and stressful, and wacky and wonderful--and all of it is now just a blur. I will just post some highlights, punctuated by intials of said persons with thier top-crisis-secret code names--which we just made up, for the record:

--J.W. J. (jehovah witness jerky) is one of the coolest persons I know. She gets super, mega. ultra, kudos for cooking, cleaning, and fanning the bride. Oh, and finding her lost sister bridesmaid.
--R. H. (rooster hiatus) is another one of the coolest people I know. She ran exceptional parental & familial interference when it was required the most so the bride could keep her sanity.
--S. J. B. (super james brown) was considered a superhero by all in attendance. He kept faithful track of the groom, paid all vendors (and didn't keep all the money and hop a plane to tahiti) and donated his shoes to the cause. (Go SJB!)
--D. F. (disorient finesse) gets high praise for hobbling down the isle with a cane and his one good foot, dancing for as long as he could on the one good foot, and also donating his shoes to the cause.
-- Our exit. That was the coolest thing I have ever seen. For those of you who missed it, hopefully you can see it on the video! Sparklers, a band, and a rockin getaway car...a 1948 rolls royce! Sweet.

Suffice to say, the wedding was a dream. and the honeymoon was divine. DI-VINE.

we are now moved...and being strangled by boxes and JUNK. or JUNQUE. either way, we have too much shit. so now we are wading through that. But we will post the website to the professional photos as soon as we get it!

Thanks muchly for all help--for the wedding and the move. Has been a nutty few weeks!
