building our own little hut

well, we spent a good chunk of the last few days (more than we had anticipated, but isn't that always how home improvement tasks go?) building the Chuppah for our wedding.

My aunt made us the most gorgeously embroidered, fabric, top part (that most folks won't see but us!) and we are building the structure to hold it up. Heck of a job, actually.

OH, and for those of you who don't know, the Chuppah is what Jewish couples stand under when they get married. It symbolizes the openess of our house to all our loved ones.

Anyhoo...we are BUILDING one. we have to be out of our heads. Seriously. Yesterday we were all covered in plaster, sawdust, and spray paint, not to mention my unadulterated quest for styrofoam and wheat grass. It is almost like I'm at work...But indeed, tis a labor of love. And certainly one for the memory books. Especially when we force it upon our future children to use for their wedding!
